*Dark Funeral Set To Record New Album
-Dark Funeral has issued the following update about preparing to record a new album:
"Finally. We have a date set for our studio session!
"On July 10 (yezz, the day after we play the Rockweekend Festival in Kilafors, Sweden) we will enter Abyss Studio together with Peter Tagtgren to begin the recording of our new, yet untitled, full-length album.
"At this point of time we have demoed 7 new and totally amazing (of course) songs and we got an 8th almost done. Besides that, we have quite a lot of additional material written that we hopefully will be able to turn into a killer track or two before our studio time runs out.
"As I previous mentioned, the new album will definitely be our most varied album thus far, perhaps a little bit toned down compared to its precursor, but still carry on with the same spirit and strength as always.
"This time we will offer more than one non blast beat (means heavy song) too. And some of the material will probably come as a surprise, as it’s not all typical Dark Funeral style, which I personally find very inspiring. And I can’t wait to nail this new album once and for all.
"Once we begin to work at the Abyss Studio we will keep you updated on regular basis, that includes video reports too. Not sure which website we’ll use as the main forum for this, but once it’s decided we’ll let you know of course.
"PS. We currently run a killer offer through our official webstore, which you might want to advantage of. Check it out here!"

*Blacklisted Recording New Album

*Amorphis Guitarist Discusses Error on Digipak Version of New Album
-Amorphis guitarist Esa Holopainen has posted the following message regarding the error in the digipak version of the band's latest album, "Skyforger":

"Dear Fans,
"As many of you may have noticed, the 'Skyforger' digipak release includes two very little sound level errors. We heard about this yesterday and you can imagine how we feel. As we don’t have the actual copies ourselves, we as a band couldn’t react any earlier, which makes this more painful. The album for which we gave 100% percent of ourselves, a lot of time and work, shouldn’t end up like this.
"The sound level errors occur for a few seconds on two tracks: 'My Sun' (piano fill) and 'Skyforger' (middle part).
"Why did this happen? Due to a mastering error. We can’t blame anyone for this as it seems that it has really been a technical problem and at this point it makes no difference anyway.
"The good news is that Nuclear Blast are working hard to get replacement CDs for people who want to exchange their copy. Another good fact is that all other formats (jewel-case, US- & JAPAN editions, all digital versions, vinyl) work perfectly.
"One thing on which we also work now in this moment is something that can’t replace the actual CDs but is at least a little relief: Nuclear Blast is offering free downloads for 'My Sun' and 'Skyforger' via download: http://nuclearblast.de:8080/amorphis-cv/.
"Beside all this mess I really hope and believe you can enjoy the album! You can also regard this digi-pack as a rare collector’s item. :)"

*Judgement Day Posts Collaboration EP For Download
-Metal violin and cello trio Judgement Day's Anton Patzner participated in a collaboration with other musicians, which resulted is a couple of songs being recorded and now released for free download. Here's the background from Judgement Day:
"Recorded in Sacramento in September of 2006, Huge Black Man’s 'Hugh Jackman EP' was in many ways a musical experiment. The rules: 4 musicians from very different bands would meet in a practice space for one day, without any prior rehearsal, and record an entire album.

"Those musicians were:
Anton Patzner of Judgement Day - Violin
Nick Reinhart of Tera Melos – Guitar, Knobs
Sam Phelps of 4 Guys from Reno – Bass
Noah Clark of Brilliant Red Lights – Drums and Producer

"The result is a highly unique blend of musical styles and an intriguing study of spontaneity and creativity under the pressure of time constraint. It’s also pretty fun to listen to."
