Hatebreed Frontman Talks Next Album

Vocalist Jamey Jasta of Connecticut hardcore/metal masters HATEBREED has told Noisecreep thtat the band is currently recording its next album at Planet Z studios in Hadley, Massachusetts for a tentative set for an October release via E1 Music (formerly KOCH Records). He said, "We hope to top [2002's] 'Perseverance'," which was the band's most commercially successful release.

Regarding how the album will sound, Jasta said, "It's definitely hard as hell and there isn't a lot of sludgy doomy stuff from my KINGDOM OF SORROW experience," the vocalist stated, referring to his side project with CROWBAR's Kirk Windstein. "A couple things may be vocally similar, but it's the upbeat, aggressive approach that we always take. Everyone stepped up their game with the covers record and that challenged us to match the intensity and speed, and to do solos. This will be our first record with guitar solos. We're not known for that. Wayne [Lozniak] is a shredder and that will surprise some people but it's not overdone."

The covers album by HATEBREED, entitled "For The Lions", sold around 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 58 on The Billboard 200 chart.

HATEBREED's last collection of new material, "Supremacy", opened with around 27,000 copies back in September 2006 to land at No. 31. This number was roughly in line with the first-week tally registered by its predecessor, "Rise Of Brutality", which shifted more than 32,000 copies back in November 2003 to debut at No. 30.

An e-card for "For The Lions" can be accessed at this location.

Released in the U.S. on May 5 via E1 Music (formerly KOCH Records), "For The Lions" is the follow-up to the band's #1 Billboard charting DVD, "Live Dominance" (released September of 2008).

The songs on "For The Lions" were carefully selected by HATEBREED to represent a panoramic view of some of their favorite artists and greatest musical inspirations. Having completed the album in 2008, the band felt their work wasn't done yet and just returned to the studio with original guitar player Wayne Lozinak to record additional tracks for the album.

The video for HATEBREED's cover of the SLAYER classic "Ghosts of War" can be viewed below. Helmed by "Live Dominance" director Kevin Custer, the clip is the first to feature returning HATEBREED guitarist Wayne Lozinak.
