Swedish black metallers VANDÖD will enter the studio in June to begin recording their second full-length album, "Dö". The follow-up to 2007's "As" is tentatively due in the fall.
Commented drummer Daniel Wikforss: "Our last album was a very raw and unpolished effort, and almost all of it was recorded in one takes, since we all set off with the idea that a debut album should be very 'true' and 'necro.' But we've got that stage out of the way now, and 'Dö' is going to surprise quite a few people. We're not prepared to go into too much detail yet, but let me reassure fans that we have no intention of becoming a technical band, that's just not what VANDÖD aspires to, but there will definitely be some changes to the production values."
Formed in 2004 by Wikforss and guitarist Henrik Wendel, VANDÖD was quickly joined by Niclas Ankabranth on vocals after he heard the duo playing around with a track while he was visiting the studio. The band was recently re-united with former bass player Ville Kemi (FALL OV SERAFIM). Commenting on Kemi's return to the fold, Wikforss said, "You could say that having Ville back completes the circle for VANDÖD, and it's great to be working with him again, especially just as we are ready to start recording. It also means we can start playing live again with a vengeance!"
